Basketball sensation Caitlin Clark felt the love from NFL tight end George Kittle when reflecting on her favorite moments from 2024, a statement year in her life.
This year has seen Clark set a new NCAA points record, become the No. 1 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft, and also help progress women’s basketball at record speed. When reflecting on a staggering 12 months, Clark shared photos on Instagram from her final year with Iowa, her rookie WNBA season with the Indiana Fever, while also sharing snaps of her closest friends and loved ones.
One of those photos was alongside Kittle and his wife, Claire, who attended a game between the Hawkeyes and West Virginia during March Madness before meeting Clark after the game. Kittle is a huge supporter of Clark, and commented on her post: “Great days ahead!!”
Kittle and his wife also attended the University of Iowa, and have followed Clark’s journey from the start. The San Francisco 49ers star was extremely impressed with Clark after meeting her for the first time, and aside from her athletic abilities, he believes she is a perfect role model.
“She’s incredibly personable. She’s charismatic. She’s just so authentic,” Kittle told Fox News Digital. “She doesn’t fake anything. She’s very interested in everything you’re talking about. She’s great to have a conversation with. You can tell how much she loves her teammates.”
Kittle then detailed what Clark was like in the locker room after scoring 32 points in that game, explaining why she’s so loved behind the scenes. “We were hanging out in the training room after the game just to get away from the crowd a little bit,” he added.
“She comes in, hugs all the athletic trainers, talks to everybody, talks to us a little bit, and you just see how much people care for her. She has this incredible reputation that she’s built day in and day out. So, she’s done that and just so excited for her.
“You see how she is on the court. She has this competitiveness. She’s got this fire in her. But as soon as she gets off the court, there’s this flip of the switch. She’s just Caitlin Clark.
“To be able to go back and forth between all that, you have to be very good to be able to do that, and she does that flawlessly. It’s a spectacle [to watch her play] and [I’m] just happy for her success.”
Kittle will now be able to enjoy WNBA action closer to home after the Golden State Valkyries were awarded an expansion, with the new franchise joining the league in 2025. One of Clark’s closest friends and former Iowa teammates, Kate Martin, will be one of the star players after being selected by the Valkyries during the expansion draft.
