If the Kansas City Chiefs needed a little extra motivation heading into the playoffs, NFL legend Terry Bradshaw might have just provided it. The former quarterback and current analyst on Fox NFL Sunday shared his doubts on the Chiefs’ chances of pulling off a historic third consecutive Super Bowl victory. During Sunday’s broadcast, Bradshaw made waves with his bold prediction.
“Are the Chiefs your number one team in the AFC right now?” Charissa Thompson asked him.
“They’re not going to win three in a row, but …” Bradshaw began, only to be interrupted by audible gasps from his fellow analysts.
“Why am I upsetting everybody?” Bradshaw asked, clearly aware his take would spark controversy.
Peter Schrager quickly jumped in, pointing out the enormity of Bradshaw’s claim. “Terry, it’s never been done.”
“That’s one of the reasons,” Bradshaw explained. “The other reason is, you see how quick they get rid of the ball now? Quick, quick, quick, quick, quick. I just think they’re going to load up against a team like Buffalo or Baltimore — those are the two teams that could beat them, and I think it’s going to happen, even though it would be in Kansas City.”
Bradshaw’s comments come as the Chiefs solidify their status as the AFC’s top seed, clinching a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs after a commanding win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.
Despite Bradshaw’s skepticism, oddsmakers remain bullish on Kansas City’s chances. FanDuel currently lists the Chiefs as favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy at +370. The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, Bradshaw’s two main contenders, sit at third and fourth in the odds, respectively.

The Challenge of a Three-Peat
No NFL team has ever achieved the elusive three-peat, a feat accomplished only in other North American sports by legendary dynasties such as Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls (1991–93, 1996–98), the New York Yankees under Joe Torre (1998–2000), and the New York Islanders in the NHL (1980–83, with four straight titles). The Chiefs now aim to etch their name alongside these iconic franchises.
While Bradshaw acknowledges Kansas City’s formidable roster, led by Patrick Mahomes, he believes teams like the Bills and Ravens possess the tools to take down the reigning champions.
Kansas City’s Path Forward
To complete their three-peat, the Chiefs are likely to face a grueling path through the AFC, where they would almost certainly encounter one or both of Bradshaw’s touted contenders. Kansas City bested both teams on the road last postseason, defeating the Bills in a thrilling divisional-round game and overcoming the Ravens in the AFC Championship.
With the playoffs set to begin, the Chiefs will have to prove Bradshaw wrong on the biggest stage.
Should they succeed, they won’t just make history but cement themselves as one of the NFL’s all-time great dynasties. For now, however, the pressure — and scrutiny — continues to build.
