It has been a while since the Green Bay Packers last won the Super Bowl championship during the 2010 season. Ever since, they have had to ensure several painful early playoff exits, including four losses in the NFC Championship Game, and the departures of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers and star wide receiver Davante Adams.

One of the few players remaining in the NFL who played on that 2010 Packers squad is Mason Crosby, who was the kicker on that squad. He played for Green Bay from 2007 to 2022, and while he never made a Pro Bowl, he was a very reliable player for it, not to mention one of its most beloved players.

He had been around long enough to say that he played with not only Rodgers but also Brett Favre.

Crosby spent the 2023 season with the New York Giants and didn’t play in 2024. The Packers announced in a press release on Wednesday that he will be retiring with the franchise.

He was rarely one of the NFL’s most accurate kickers, and he had some rocky seasons early in his career when it seemed like his future with Green Bay was in doubt. But he got better with time, and his accuracy seemed to get better during the postseason. While he has a career accuracy of 81.3 percent on field goals in the regular season, that figure is at 88.6 percent for the playoffs.

As that press release pointed out, he ended up as the franchise’s all-time leader in points (1,918), field goals (395), 50-yard field goals (43) and extra points (733).
