New Orleans Saints star Cam Jordan has stepped up to help his community in the wake of a devastating New Year’s Eve terror attack that rocked the heart of the city. The Pro Bowl defensive end announced a $25,000 donation to aid victims and their families, partnering with local organizations to provide relief during this tragic time.
A City in Mourning
The attack occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day, as revelers celebrated on Bourbon Street. A terrorist, identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, drove a vehicle into a crowded area at high speed, killing 15 people and injuring 35 more. After the crash, Jabbar exited the vehicle and began firing at bystanders and police. He was killed in a shootout with law enforcement. Authorities later discovered weapons and improvised explosives at the scene, which had not detonated.
The FBI identified Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. citizen and Army veteran from Texas, and declared the massacre an act of terrorism. An ISIS flag and additional weapons were reportedly found inside the vehicle, with investigations underway to determine Jabbar’s ties to the group.
Cam Jordan’s Response
Following the tragedy, Cam Jordan took to social media to express his condolences and announce his commitment to aiding those affected.
“I am joining @GNOFoundation and the @CityOfNOLA by donating $25,000 to the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund to support victims of the attack,” Jordan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), including a link to the fundraiser. “Please consider donating to assist the families of those who lost their lives and those who were severely injured. Donate to help those impacted.”
Earlier, Jordan shared his shock and sorrow upon learning of the attack. “Woke up to texts about what happened on Bourbon Street last night, God bless! A pure tragedy, sorry to all those lives that were affected,” he posted. “Prayers out to New Orleans.”
Jordan’s donation and partnership with the Greater New Orleans Foundation highlight his commitment to the city he has called home since being drafted by the Saints in 2011. His leadership on and off the field has made him a beloved figure in the community.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of the devastating incident in New Orleans,” the NFL said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the victims, the New Orleans community, and all those affected.”
The league emphasized its comprehensive security plans, which have been in development for over two years in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies. “These planning sessions will continue as they do with all major NFL events, and we are confident attendees will have a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl experience,” the statement concluded.
