Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor once revealed he deletes his tweets to prevent poisoning his account.
The Irishman is a prominent figure when it comes to social media account. ‘The Notorious’ is never shy when it comes to expressing his views on a wide range of topics online. However, the 36-year-old has made a bit of a habit of quickly deleting posts merely seconds after uploading them.
McGregor has had a lot of time on his hands over the years as the MMA icon hasn’t fought since suffering a brutal defeat to long-time rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in 2021. On that night, he suffered a devastating leg break and is still yet to return to the Octagon. He was scheduled to make his UFC comeback earlier this year against former Bellator champion Michael Chandler. However, McGregor was forced to pull out of his UFC 303 clash due to an injury just a few weeks before the pair were due to go glove-to-glove.
Three years ago, McGregor took to social media to deliver numerous expletive rants, as well as recently voicing his frustration after Ireland reimposed lockdown restrictions to prevent the increasing spread of coronavirus. After being questioned by a commentator online, ‘The Notorious’ responded with an X-rated rant explaining how he deletes his tweets to prevent negativity being visible on his account.
“Hey, d— breath, you must be new here. I will always say what I need to say, it gets reported/spread, then I remove from my page,” he wrote. “It’s done and out. I do not like to keep negativity on my channels. Ever. You do zero to help anything or anyone in any situation. So shut up.
“My point stands. I am ashamed of those in government! Leo comment, disgraceful. Im worried for our neglected hospitals and for our people. It is an abomination what is happening! It hurts me beyond belief. If you think I enjoy saying these things and want to keep them, I do not. Now do me a favor since you do absolutely f— all else, and f— off with your ‘commentary’.
“Ah act innocent. Ive seen your sly remarks before. You did not just share. Remember this is not a laughing matter. None of it! Youre a ‘Twitter political commentator’. A great provider, Im sure. You do nothing. Stop attempting to engage with me. P— right off, failure. Get a job.”
The Irishman remains very much vocal on social media and recently opted to call out WWE superstar, Logan Paul. Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – McGregor wrote: “The rumors of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” The Ambani family is India’s richest with a net worth of over $50billion and would appear to be financing the fight.
