Madeline Gaudreau has given birth to Tripp Matthew Gaudreau, son of the late Matthew Gaudreau, according to a post on her Instagram Sunday.

The post shows an adult hand holding a baby’s hand next to a sign that says “He’s Here.”

 

In the caption, she wrote, “Mommy & Daddy’s world.” The baby is the couple’s only child.

Matthew Gaudreau, 29, died along with his brother Johnny Gaudreau, 31-year-old Blue Jackets star forward, while bicycling after dark on Aug. 29 in New Jersey. It was the day before they were scheduled to be groomsmen in their sister’s wedding in Philadelphia.

The brothers’ widows were both pregnant at the time. Johnny’s wife Meredith Gaudreau revealed at the funeral that she was nine weeks along with their third child.

 

 

Sean M. Higgins, 43, of Woodstown, New Jersey, has been charged with two counts of death by auto. Authorities have alleged that Higgins, while driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, passed a sedan on the left and then wanted to pass an SUV. But the SUV had moved to the left to avoid the brothers cycling on the shoulder. The SUV driver told investigators Higgins accelerated past that vehicle on the right, hitting the brothers, and then continued on.
